Great news...I was informed this
morning that ATU 741 has reached a
tentative agreement with the city of
London!!! WoooHooo - YaY - dance,
dance, dance : )
Not so great news, CEP 2003 was
ordered by the City of Toronto to
remove their picket-line. CF61 has
reorganized and are now handing out
leaflets in malls (warmer is better
OCC will still deliver the cheer to CEP
2003...only the location has changed -
see new location below!
Sunday, December 20th
Since December 8, Richard (my hubby) and I have been on the road delivering the cheer to picket-lines
across the province. As of tomorrow, we will have personally delivered grocery gift bags, grocery gift cards,
toys, and hot lunches to 14 picket-lines.
OCC Angels/Volunteers like Jim Freeman from the Durham District Labour Council, Cherie Hunter from
CEP 1999, the executive board of CEP 425G and Kim Ginter and Barb Dolan from CEP Ontario Region
generously donated their time and delivered the cheer to another 4 picket-lines that we could not physically
get out to. We are sooooo thankful for their help!
The past 12 days have been busy/crazy/insane with packing grocery gift bags, preparing grocery gift card
envelopes, sorting toys, coordinating drop-offs and driving all over timbucktwo.
The amount of toys that have been donated by OutGrowOutPlay.com, Ottawa-Carleton Elementary Teachers
Federation, OSSTF District 12 Teachers Bargaining Unit, PSAC-UTE Mississauga, OPSEU 479 and CEP
975 is absolutely incredible! My entire kitchen is covered and piled high with Barbies, Legos, trucks, games,
and a gadzillion other toy (I have pictures!).
Tomorrow at 12pm, we will deliver to USW 9511 in Ottawa and USW 6200 in Port Colborne. We are
expecting a great turn out at both locations. All are welcome to come out for lunch!
The website will be updated within a few days and pictures will be uploaded..it's time for Richard and I to
focus on our family and celebrate the Holidays with our loved ones : )

Herb Daniher, USW Staff rep in Thunder Bay has spread the word to all his locals in North West Ontario and as always, his locals are sponsoring
families in need... thank-you...thank-you...thank-you!
Word of Operation Christmas Cheer is spreading to delegates. The OFL handed out the 2009 campaign letter (YAY - dance, dance, dance) and a
copy of the Picket-Line Press! Over the next 4 days, OCC volunteers and myself will continue to talk to anyone and everyone who will listen : )

Yesterday the Cheer was delivered to 9 USW 6500 picket-lines
including Levack, Lively and Garson and also to USW 9511
(DriveTest) picket-line in Sudbury. A little snowstorm could not
stop us! Moral was high despite the biting cold temps.

Right now there are several other locals throughout the province that are also on strike. It is a challenge for OCC to make the commitment to
every single local and ensure that each Brother and Sister receives a food hamper. We wish we could, but unfortunately we are unable to.
It is our hope that their solidarity on the picket-lines makes their employers rethink their unreasonable concession demands and forces
management back to the table with a fair contract for workers. If these locals are still on strike in December, OCC will reach out to help as many
of their members as possible.
